Members of the Awali Golf Club turned out in force last Friday dressed in festive outfits to participate in the BMMI/Al Osra Christmas Medal competition.
Richard Loker galloped ahead of the assorted reindeer and Santas to receive his hamper with a net score of 64.
With the clubhouse suitably decorated, Captain Bill Scarth thanked BMMI/Al Osra for their continued sponsorship of this annual event before Michael Goodger of BMMI presented the winners with their hampers and Essa Al Qutami with his Medal for a gross score of 70.
A ‘Hole in One’ was recorded by Hamad Fares Al Qutami and club members hoped that his insurance was up-to-date to cover the obligatory refreshments.
The evening continued with much merriment and a rendition of ‘Twelve Days of Awali’, penned by the well-known local composer Onny ‘Mr Bean’ Martin, and sung – not exactly to tune – by the assembled crowd.

Overall winner: Richard Loker (net 64)
Runner-up: Jo Pawson (65)
