Golf Tip: Control the clubface by DAVID EDWARDS

Maintaining control of the clubface during the swing is imperative to hit consistently straight shots.

When placing the top glove hand on the club, ensure that the thumb is on the club and slightly to the right as you look down (for right handers) as the club will ‘sit’ on top of the thumb in a secure position at the top of the backswing.

Losing hold of the club in the backswing is common, so try practicing with a tee peg in between the glove and the handle. If the tee falls out it means the glove hand is not secure and if the tee stays in place then you are able to control the clubface.
