Gulf Weekly Brand stars in Stableford contest

Floris Brand, with 44 points, won the Crown Worldwide Stableford competition at Awali Golf Club edging out Jac Parker and Clive Turpin into second and third places, respectively, each with 43 points.

A field of 82 golfers contested this competition held for the second year. After the previous week’s windy and cold conditions, the warmer and settled conditions led to some high Stableford scores over the 18 holes and handicap cuts to 17 club members.

After the competition, Club Captain Bill Scarth explained the Congu system of ‘exceptional scoring reductions’ in anticipation of queries from a couple of players with three and four stroke cuts.

Crown Worldwide general manager, Andrew MacInnes, presented the prizes to, before ‘ringing the bell’.
