Celebrity Chef Hariyo Pramoe will be adding a touch of Indonesian excellence to the Al Areen Palace & Spa’s food festival which starts on Friday and runs until October 21 at its Asian restaurant Keizo.
Working in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy, organisers are ‘delighted’ to have secured the culinary expertise and unique touch of one of Indonesia’s most reputed chefs throughout the event.
Chef Haryo Pramoe has more than two decades of experience and is considered as the leading authority when it comes to the cuisine and has represented Indonesia at various cultural programmes across the world.
His passion for cooking and Indonesian cuisine, in particular, has compelled him to ‘travel and educate’ the global community on the diversity and simplicity of the food.
The resort’s general manager, Pierre Vasseur, said: "Chef Haryo personally believes the fastest way of learning a culture is through its cuisine. We are delighted he has graciously agreed to be part of the Indonesian Food Festival at Al Areen Palace & Spa."
The festival will be held throughout the week at the restaurant from 7pm-11pm. Guests can chose a set menu priced BD12++ or opt for an a la carte menu.
Chef Haryo will be working alongside Executive Sous Chef Janardan Das and his team. The menu will feature popular Indonesian dishes such as Nasi Goreng, Beef Rendang, and desserts like Fried Banana with Chocolate Dip and Es Cendol (Shaved Ice with Rice Flour Dumpling).
As part of the food festival, there will be an Angklung performance (a traditional musical instrument made from bamboo) and an Indonesian dance.
Chilman Arisman, the Indonesian ambassador to Bahrain, said: "Indonesia is currently focused on developing Indonesian cuisine and promoting it to the world. With the growing recognition of the delights of the fare in Bahrain, we are delighted to hold this event at Al Areen."
As part of the festival, the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park will have an ‘Indonesian Community Day’ on Saturday where all Indonesian nationals in Bahrain will receive a 50 per cent discount on the entry tickets.
