GulfWeekly asked a cross-section of readers. Here's what they said ..., Sara Isa Yousef, 20, sales girl at Tommy Hilfiger, Hidd:
I call my mum at least twice a month.
But the last time I spoke to her was last week just to tell her that I love her and miss her. I should start calling more, I know.
Georgia Angella Smith, 21, salon manager, Sanad:
I call my mum once a week. The last time I called her was yesterday. I mainly call to find out how she and the family are doing. My mum keeps me updated with all the family news. I get homesick at times, especially during the holidays. She is very proud of my salon in Bahrain and always tells me that.
Sunil Moolchandai, 24, retail manager, Adliya:
I call my mother almost twice a week. She lives in India and sometimes I get homesick. I have been living in Bahrain for about one year now. The last time I called was yesterday for her wedding anniversary. I wished her a happy anniversary and told her that I missed her very much.
Nicola Simionato, 33, manager of e-commerce at Gulf Air, Mahooz:
I call my mother every other day, more or less. We are a very close family and we keep in touch at least twice a week.
I just came back from visiting the family in Italy so I called her last night as soon as I got off the flight to let her know that I was fine.
Rashid Ebrahim, 21, studying at College of Science, East Riffa:
I speak to my mum almost everyday. The last time I spoke to her was today around noon. I called her because she had a favour to ask of me. I am kind of her chauffer at the moment. But I do my best to talk to my mum even when she doesn't need something from me.
Vanian Chang-Time, 30, airline control officer, Air Seychelles, Budaiya:
I don't really call my mother often because I visit home at least once a week. I just recently moved out so I am still going back for my things. The last time I called my mum it was to let her know I will be coming to see her and to ask her to prepare some of her good food!
Alicia L'Esperance, 28, senior alliance officer in Qatar Airways, Saar:
I call my mother at least once every two weeks. Sometimes I am on the phone with her twice a week, depending on what has been going on with me. She calls me quite often as well and I always look forward to talking to her. Nothing stops me from calling my mother.
Theresa Hawkins, lecturer in Scotland, visiting Bahrain:
I call my mum once a week and visit once a week. The last time I spoke to her was one week ago and it was just to see if she was OK, nothing much really. I wanted to catch up on family news that is all.
